HOW TO PREPARE THE IMAGES

Although your musical talent is the most important ingredient within "my MDP", we cannot forget that today, image counts a lot, this is the reason why we recommended to you, that the photographs that you prepare for "my MDP" are those that best reflect the image that you want to portray.

There are 3 types of images that you can send: "Photographs", "Logos" and "Icons". It is very important to prepare the images in a format, size and resolution that will obtain the best result when they are inserted into "my MDP". Remember that the quality of the original that you upload, will determine the maximum quality whereupon they will be seen on a computer monitor or a television. An bad quality image cannot be improved; therefore if you upload an image with poor quality definition, you can be certain that it will look bad on the DVD.

Given that the images will be used to create a DVD, which is a video format, and not for printing; you will find our recommendations below for obtaining the best result, ensuring that each image has the best possible quality, but that they wont be unnecessarly large files to avoid excessive upload time.

1.) RESOLUTION. It is not necessary for the resolution to be greater than: "72 dpi" (but it is not advisable that they be smaller), since that is the resolution that is supported by a conventional television set.

2.) SIZE. Because we will use your photographs to create the "SlideShows" for your "Audio Clips", it is advisable to upload images with a minimum resolution of 800 X 600 pixels, but it will get much better results if the resolution is 1280 X1024 up to 2560 X 2048.

3.) FORMAT. The suitable format for photographs (black and white or color) is: "JPEG or JPG", instead of formats of greater quality like: "tiff" (ideal for printing, but they create very large files), or formats of smaller quality like "GIF", commonly used in Web pages because they usually are very small files, but they are poor quality and not suitable for a DVD.

When sending a logo or an icon, it can be of any size that you wish and may contain, transparency, so that when it is placed on a background, it does not create a white box, and the image is integrated. Here, we recommended that if it is a "vector" format, send it in "ai" format (Adobe Illustrator); and if they are "bitmap" images, send them in a large size (if you send it in a very small size, you run the risk of losing quality when scaling), and in any one of the following formats: "psd", "png", "pdf" with transparency, "tiff" with transparency, or "GIF" with transparency, but particularly this last one, in the best quality possible. All these formats can be created with the program "Adobe Photoshop" or any other program that handles these formats.

SPECIAL RECOMMENDATION: In the case of the photographs, we recommend that, you use photographs created with a digital camera whenever you can, since they directly create a digital file. If you wish to use printed photographs (because you do not have others, or because they are very good); they will have to be "scanned" to transfer them into digital files. If you do not have a good scanner, or the experience of to do it, it is better that you rely on a professional to do it for you, or you can go to a "one hour photo" store, where they often have the adequate equipment to do it.

4.) FORM. Remember that the television format is wider in the horizontal that in the vertical (4:3 ratio), this is the reason we recommend to you that the majority if not all of them, be landscape "Horizontal", instead of portrait "Vertical".

5.) NUMBER OF IMAGES. In the case of a Logo or Icon, 1 is sufficient. In the case of the Photographs, mínimum of 10 photographs (better to upload 12 to 16). If you upload less, every "SlideShow" with just 2 or 3 will be poor, and in addition there are other places that also use the photographs, and we would be forced to repeat the same ones over and over.

6.) NAME. If you are not a solo artist, you will have to name each photo with a number (e.g.: photo1.jpg, photo2.jpg, photo3.jpg, etc.) and to create an additional text file in which you specify for each photo, the name of the member or members of the group that appear in that particular photo. This additional text file must be named: TEXT PHOTOS, and you must place it the IMAGES folder (see the explanation in the following paragraph), along with all the images.

All the Images (photographs, logo or icon) and Text Photos file (if you having one), will have to be placed in a folder named: IMAGES. When it be finished, you will have to compress it, so that it is ready to be uploaded.
