HOW TO PREPARE THE AUDIO

This is the most important part of "my MDP"; and the reason why we suggest that you choose the material carefully, as much for its sound quality, as for its production quality; it should also portray with great emphasis your style of music and your great talent as artist. Remember that "my MDP" is the equivalent to having a virtual audition with a record producer, a concert promoter, a new talent scout, or an agent that can connect you in professional circles, to launch your professional career; but as it commonly happens, you will only be given a few minutes to be listened to, and that brief time is the only opportunity that you will have to convince the person that watches and listens to "my MDP" of your great talent. Therefore, the audio more than any other material you provide for "my MDP", the quantity is not nearly as important as the quality.

First you must create a folder with the name: AUDIO. Within this folder will be placed two other folders called: AUDIOCLIPS and BACKGROUND CLIPS. The contents of each folder is explained below:.

1. AUDIO CLIPS. The AUDIOCLIPS folder should contain up to 8 Audio Clips, which will be used on the Audio Clips Menu, each with a "SlideShow" (see the information about the images for SlideShows at: "How to prepare the images"). Every Audio Clip must be named with the complete song title. Remember, we do not know the tunes, and even less, their names.

2. BACKGROUND CLIPS. We recommend that you send 1 or 2 additional Audio Clips, to be used for background music in the "Bio", "Press", "Albums-CD's" and "Contact" sections so we will not have to re-use any of the 8 Audio Clips. Due to the complex logistics, we will choose, at the moment of production of "my MDP", the portions of the Background Clips used. If you prefer that some of 8 Audio Clips be used as background music, then it is not necessary to send Background Clips, and if you want a particular Audio Clip to be used for this reason, add a text comment on the text form specifying your preference.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Virtual Music will not be responsible for the authorizations on the part of the songwriter(s). In cases where some or all of the Audio Clips are "Covers" to create "my MDP", Virtual Music assumes that the artist already has the necessary permissions and/or that the law protects it in case of noncommercial use and therefore does not need them. In any even, the entire responsibility will fall only and exclusively on the artist who has recorded the "Cover(s)", and upload them as Audio Clips.

Audio/Background Clips Format. The quality of the audio in "my MDP" is something fundamental, but it can be done in a way in which the files are not too heavy, and therefore avoid excessive upload time. The non-compressed formats, used in any "CD", are: "WAV" or "AIFF". These have great quality, but they weight approximately 10Mb for every minute; so if for example all the Audio Clips are in "wav" format, the 8 would weight around 100Mb. There is a way to preserve the quality, but at the same time to reduce the size to 10%, and that is obtained by "encoding" "wav" or "aiff" files into "MP3" or the new format "MPEG-4" also called "AAC".

We recommended that you use the following parameters for encoding:

Minimum 128 Bit Rate, Stereo, and preferably 320 VBR (Variable Bit Rate) Stereo, at 44.100 KHz & 16 bit Linear. This one will weight a little more, but its quality is for practical effects, just as good as the original in "wav" or "aiff".

There are a great variety of applications to encode "WAV" or "AIFF" in "MP3" or "MPEG-4". Use the one that you have. If you do not have any or do not know how to use it, you can go to the Apple Computer's Web Page: (www.apple.com/itunes/download), and download free "iTunes" for MAC or Windows, and from there you'll be able to encode them.

Of course, if your Audio is already in one of the formats: "MP3" or "MPEG-4", there is no need to encode them.

Once the "AUDIO" folder is ready, you will have to compress it, so it can be upload it
